Welcome to GHL NEWS! In Today's issue:
Agent Studio Triggers
UI Enhancements
Workflow Updates
Good updates this week on several fronts. The user interface ones are still in Labs but they are pretty significant (Contacts and Conversations). If you're an agency you'll want to try those in a test account and think about updating your documentation.
URL redirects also have some decent upgrades and ability to redirect entire domains now.
As always, please click at least one of the news items or reply to the message to make sure you continue to receive GHL NEWS!
In my agency we started some interesting work this week with a few clients where we're setting up a robust cold email and LinkedIn outbound messaging infrastructure for them (and ourselves too :)
We do NOT do cold email with GHL as it's not designed for that but we're working with SmartLead, HeyReach, and Clay for outbound then once people engage we move them into GHL and work from there.
SmartLead introduced some amazing new plans this week (with free verified leads) and integration with HeyReach for LinkedIn messaging.
If you want to add outbound messaging to your marketing and need help getting set up, reply here and let me know. For a couple hundred dollars a month all in you can be sending 10 to 20 thousand emails a month to targeted prospects. We can set it all up for you in a few days, warm up for a couple weeks, then you can send at scale.
We're also pairing it up with targeted ads to the same folks so they see our clients across email, LinkedIn, FB/IG then they'll be doing outbound calls to anyone that engages or visits their websites for a multi-channel outbound strategy.
This Week's News:
Agent Studio Triggers
Triggers turn Agent Studio into an event-driven automation engine. Agents can now automatically run workflows in response to platform events (like form submissions, contact tag changes, and inbound chat messages) without external APIs. The new trigger system is designed to be reliable, scalable, and testable, enabling real-time user-behavior responses across the platform.
New: Rich WhatsApp Media Messaging in Conversations (Labs)
WhatsApp conversations now support richer media messaging with captions, expanded file types, and integrated Media Storage functionality. Businesses can share images, documents, audio, and videos directly inside WhatsApp while preserving filenames and context. Attachments can be stored via Add to Documents to prevent media expiration and ensure reliable access over time. Multiple quality-of-life fixes improve delivery, thumbnails, composer behavior, and message formatting. The result is clearer customer communication, faster deal progress, and more consistent collaboration across teams.
New Analytics Metrics Added
Site Analytics now includes Average Time on Site, Average Session Duration, and Bounce Rate (Under 30 Seconds). These engagement metrics help identify where users spend time, whether sessions are meaningful, and where experience or content improvements are needed. Data can be aggregated by date range and viewed as averages, medians, and trend lines. The expanded metrics reduce guesswork and enable data-driven optimization of websites, funnels, and webinars. This provides clearer insight into retention, content performance, and conversion health.
URL Redirect UI/UX Revamp!
URL Redirects now feature a redesigned interface with clearer flows, domain-level redirect support, and smarter validation. Teams can redirect entire domains to external destinations without needing to connect them first. Live previews, improved error handling, and locked source configurations reduce misconfiguration and accidental changes. The upgrade makes redirect management more intuitive and removes the need for developer involvement. All existing redirects continue to function without migration work.
Workflow Updates: Enhanced "Opportunity Changed" Trigger
The Opportunity Changed trigger now supports event-based operators such as Has Changed and Has Changed To for both standard and custom fields. This prevents workflows from firing on unrelated updates and enables higher precision in deal automation. Use cases include routing assignments, stage changes, ownership changes, and next-step progression triggers. Existing workflows maintain their current behavior, while new workflows gain greater control. The feature reduces automation noise and improves pipeline accuracy.
Schedules API Now Available with Full Docs
A full Schedules API suite is now available, enabling programmatic creation, management, and assignment of schedules and staff availability. Core capabilities include CRUD for schedules, rule-based availability, date-specific overrides, filtering, and calendar associations. Event calendar availability is also supported for advanced use cases. The APIs unlock deeper integration into staffing systems, workflows, and external scheduling tools. This offers scalable and precise availability control across multi-location and multi-user environments.
Autosave Now in AI Builder
AI Builder workflows now autosave during generation and subsequent edits when global Autosave is enabled. This ensures users do not lose work due to browser refreshes, connectivity issues, or missed manual saves. The update improves reliability during iterative AI-assisted workflow building. It reinforces confidence in automation creation and reduces operational friction for teams experimenting with AI workflows.
Workflow AI Assistant: Smarter Knowledge Base Search
The Workflow AI Assistant now avoids unnecessary documentation lookups when analyzing workflows or responding to simple conversational inputs. This improves response speed and maintains context during workflow analysis tasks. Knowledge base search only triggers when content genuinely benefits from external reference. The update reduces latency and improves perceived intelligence during usage. It makes the assistant more efficient and less distracting during automation design.
SEO — Site Project Delete Feature
SEO users can now delete Site Projects, freeing quota for new audits and replacing the prior four-site constraint. Deleting a project restores quota immediately and rolls back SEO fixes applied through that project to restore original paths. This change allows teams to shift focus to new sites, clients, or priorities without being locked into earlier audits. The action is permanent and intended for intentional management workflows. It increases flexibility for agencies and experimentation during SEO engagements.
Introducing App Updates with Versioning in the GHL Marketplace
The Marketplace now supports explicit app versioning, lifecycle states, and in-place updates—eliminating the need to uninstall and reinstall apps to receive improvements. Existing configurations persist during updates, developers can ship safely, and users can see release notes before upgrading. Version lifecycle controls, semantic versioning, and review rules bring the Marketplace in line with modern extension platforms. Deprecation mechanisms ensure outdated versions can be retired cleanly. This establishes a scalable foundation for future module, pricing, and compatibility improvements.
New Submission PDF Layout with Attachments & Quiz Results Page Attachments
Forms, Surveys, and Quizzes now support cleaner PDF layouts, PDF attachment delivery via email notifications, and improved submission viewing. Quiz results can now be shared as PDFs and can be attached separately from submissions for clarity. A new layout selector enables switching between new and legacy PDF formats. These enhancements improve shareability, compliance, and handoffs for onboarding, testing, and documentation. The update provides more granular control over what information is shared and how.
Messaging Carrier Fee Updates — United States (Effective Jan 19, 2026)
Carrier fees for SMS and MMS will change in the United States effective January 19, 2026. Adjustments affect inbound and outbound pricing across number types and are driven by provider and carrier-level updates. The changes apply automatically and require no agency action. Transparency helps teams adjust messaging strategies and budgets if needed. The update reflects industry-wide carrier pricing shifts.
Bug Fixes & Improvements to SaaS Billing and Upgrades
SaaS billing improvements address currency compliance for Bulgaria’s transition from BGN to EUR, fix inaccurate reactivation pricing for special prices, and restore upgrade control propagation for SaaS V2. These fixes ensure more predictable billing behavior and more reliable SaaS upgrade paths. Agencies benefit from cleaner financial operations and aligned billing logic. All changes are live and require no migration from users.
Contact Detail Page Redesign
The Contact Detail Page has been redesigned for clarity, contrast, and usability, with improvements to tags, engagement score visibility, field readability, and opportunity placement. Users can now add new tags more easily, collapse or expand tag views, and access secondary contact details more intuitively. Opportunities are now placed under Actions to reduce clicks and support faster sales workflows. The redesign enhances scannability and reduces cognitive load without altering core functionality.
Conversations Page — UI Enhancements
Conversations now include a series of UI enhancements driven by CRM redesign feedback. Improvements span activity logs, icon clarity, bulk selection, thread visibility, snippet selection, contrast, and translation coverage. The enhancements make messaging workflows easier to scan, understand, and execute. The changes are available in Labs through the CRM Redesign toggle.
